The 5 Koshas (Levels of manifestation of the embodied soul)

The two higher are:

1) The Intelligence sheath or Vijnanamaya Kosha. Consists of the intellect (Buddhi) and the 5 sense organs in the cognitive aspect

2) The Bliss sheath or Anandamaya Kosha. Consists of the seed states of these.

Lower ones:

3) Physical sheath or Annamaya Kosha. Consists of the 5 elements. The gross aspect of the physical body.

4) The Pranic sheath or Pranayama Kosha. Consists of the 5 motor organs and the 5 pranas, as well as the subtle or energetic side of the physical body.

5) The Mental sheath or Manomaya Kosha. Consists of the mind and the 5 sense organs.

Sunday Morning recipe

YOGURT RICE

V, VP, VK
Serves 2

Ingredients:
1 c Basmati rice
3 c water
1  tsp split Urad dhal, without the skins
1 tsp black mustard seeds
1 tsp sesame oil
1/2 tsp minced ginger
2 minced green chili peppers
2 tbs minced fresh cilantro
1 c fresh plain yogurt
1/4 tsp sea salt

Method:
Wash rice until water runs clear, drain.
Combine with the 3 cups of water and bring to a boil; simmer over medium heat for 25 min until well cooked.
Allow to cool.
In a preheated griddle, roast urad dhal and mustard seeds in oil until the dhal is light brown and the seeds begin to pop. Remove from grill. Set aside.
Sautee ginger and chili peppers in low heat for 4 minutes. Add cilantro during the last minute.
Pour yogurt into a large wooden bowl and mix in the dhal, seeds, herbs, and salt. Add to rice and combine well. Serve warm.
